"Flair is a primitive kind of style. It is innate and cannot be taught.It can be polished and refined. When a person has flair, a grounding in the principle of design, and self-discipline, that person has the potential of being an outstanding designer."

Alluring or fascinating attractiveness.

an exciting and often illusory and romantic attractiveness;
alluring or fascinating attractiveness.
That is how Mr. Webster defines glamour. Today I received an absolutely fabulous book [bible], for Christmas: Jan Shower's Glamorous Rooms. With an endearing foreword by Michael Kors, another icon in the world of great style. Kors describes Glamorous Rooms as a book "full of the kind of chic, timeless elegance that will endure for years to come." Jan Showers ASID has been practicing Interior Design for over 25 years in which her interiors have been featured in various noteworthy design publications including Traditional Home, Elle Decor, Southern Accents, etc. Jan currently resides in Dallas, Texas where she lives with her husband James and owns her own firm Jan Showers & Associates. She also designs a line of custom furniture, lighting, and accessories that can be featured on her website. Below are a couple of glamorous interiors I have found very fascinatingly attractive...

Library
1930s ebonized chairs sit in front of an eglomise reproduction mirrored desk with a Lucite and sycamore lamp.

Formal Dining Room
A pair of frosted Venini chandeliers hang over this custom mahogany dining table with bronze details. Below it lies a gorgeous custom designed, hand-knotted Patterson, Flynn & Martin wool rug. The hand-painted wall covering is from Fromental.

Formal Living Room
These Maison Jansen vermeil lamps make a space feel fresh and au courant, and mixing silver and gold is always a good idea.

Entry Hall
Create an aura of glamour with some or all of these classic design elements; warm silver-leaf tea paper on the walls, a fabulous Murano-glass lamp, and gilded mirrors.

Bedroom
This custom Billy Haines-style bed in warm silver leaf is balanced by a pair of ivory lacquered commodes with white ceramic lamps and gold-leaf wood soleil mirror from the 1940s.
